What Are Micro Sessions?

You will see me advertise for micro sessions at various times of the year. But what are they? Most photographers do not offer micro sessions, so some of you may be confused as to what it actually means when I offer these types of sessions. Since I have mini sessions all year round as one of my photo package options, I call my “pop-up,” shortened and discounted sessions “micro sessions.” They are smaller than mini sessions, hence “micro.”

Other photographers typically offer mini sessions in the same way that I offer micro sessions, if that makes sense. They are essentially discounted photo package options in which you will receive a few less images than the smallest package offered by the photographer, usually scheduled for a specific day, which the photographer chooses. They are typically offered at optimal times of the year for family photos, such as in the springtime with freshly bloomed cherry blossoms or during holidays throughout the year. Micro sessions are an opportunity for families to get some professional photos taken when they may not have before due to cost or timing. My micro sessions are scheduled about 4 – 5 times per year. Clients sign up for a time slot on a specific, pre-planned date at a location chosen by me.

Despite being shorter in length, micro sessions do not offer less in terms of the quality of the photographs. I always aim for the best quality photographs that I can because your photos are a representation of my business and my work, micro photo session or not. I care about every session that I shoot, especially the micro sessions. I tailor those sessions to the right timing of the day and schedule them at some of my favorite locations for photos, so you won’t be steered in the wrong direction if you are thinking of booking a micro sessions with me.

My current micro sessions offering is on May 2nd in Dover for springtime photos.
