What is my Editing Style?

When it comes to editing, every photographer is different. That’s part of the beauty of art: ten different photographers could work on the same photograph and it could turn out ten different ways. So, what is my editing style? I would describe it as true-to-color and vibrant. I don’t like to manipulate the colors of a photo to the point that it looks different than real life. I use editing tools to enhance the image colors, but try to keep it true to life.

The subject, meaning you, will pop from the background in my photos. I utilize masking tools in Lightroom Classic to achieve this look in addition to adjusting my camera settings to achieve this look in camera. Doing this creates a depth of field that is attractive when observing a photograph. There will be definition to the photograph that is appealing. See for yourself:

I also like to have my photos vibrant in color in order to really draw someone into the photograph. Adding vibrancy to my photos is a second way to make the subject pop. My editing goal is to get the photograph as true to life as possible, while using light to draw the eye directly to the subject. Sometimes this look is achieved with framing, other times this is achieved through the lighting of the subject.
